Vans Vault x WTAPS

words by Calum Gordon

Continuing their collaborative relationship, Vans and Tetsu Nishiyama’s WTAPS have once again teamed up to provide a capsule collection that is executed with a typical Japanese attention to detail. Consisting of three styles: the much loved Sk8-Hi and Era – which takes its inspiration from traditional Japanese school shoes, where your grade is denoted by the colour of your sole – as well as the OG Style 36 style that gained prominence after being utilised by Gosha Rubchinskiy last season. It feels like there’s something for everybody in this collection, from the monochrome Sk8 Hi with its juxtaposed materials to the wonderfully playful Era style. Personally, the indigo blue OG Style 36 is my favourite — having found the Gosha iteration my go-to shoe for spring summer, the tonal suede here really allows the excellent design to shine through here.

The collection will be available in the coming days from Goodhoodstore.com, among others.
