La Coka Nostra @ O2 Academy Islington

“This ain’t a super group homie, we the best in the game.” – Danny Boy on Creed of The Greedier

La Coka Nostra’s current line up comprising of Ill Bill (Non Phixion), Slaine (Special Teamz), Danny Boy (House Of Pain) and DJ Lethal (House Of Pain/Limp Bizkit) have started their European Tour and are due in town this Saturday at the O2 Academy Islington. With five dates in Australia for the Mind Your Business tour in their rear view, they embark on a seventeen date, ten country European march starting in Russia and ending in Holland. It’s been a busy couple of years for all members of the group. With solo albums last year The Grimy Awards by Ill Bill, and Slaine’s The Boston Project plus the recently released The King Of Everything Else, hopefully we’ll get some solo material as well as tracks from Masters Of The Dark Arts. Danny Boy is taking time from projects such as the Hellfire Canyon Club and Delta Bravo Urban Exploration Team. DJ Lethal returns to the UK having spent almost a month touring in February of this year. For me Boston native Slaine is one of the most underrated storytellers of our generation, and he’s not content with just making music. He also has four movies under his belt including By The Gun with Harvey Keitel set for release next month. With London having missed out on the last LCN tour in 2012, I’m expecting both the group and fans to really represent. Tickets are still available from the usual outlets, including a Meet & Greet package via Music Glue. I wonder how much they’ve thought about this considering a lot of fans will be almost in their forties. But that goes to show how much touring and giving back means to the group. It’s a great opportunity to give thanks, pose for a mug shot and pick up some dope merchandise.
