KAWS’ “SMALL LIE” SCULPTURE AT FRIEZE LONDON
Having exhibited at the More Gallery in Switzerland this past June, KAWS brings his 32-foot tall “SMALL LIE” (2013) sculpture to London’s Regent Park.
Frieze Masters is a fair which presents a contemporary perspective on historical art. The fair features leading galleries showcasing art made before the year 2000, ranging from the ancient era and old masters to the late 20th century. Frieze Masters 2014 will be open to the public from Wednesday, 15 October to Sunday, 19 October 2014 with tickets for day visits starting at £33. It’s worth noting that the ticket price gets you in to view all of the sculptures from some twenty artists including “HEAD” by Not Vital. For KAWS fans short on time there’s a cheaper option of a two hour window between 5-7 pm for £15. Presented by Galerie Perrotin not much has been said or published about the afromosia wood companion. With it’s form as Pinocchio and the title of “Small Lie” it’s intentionally thought-provoking. The typically British weather has been dull and dreary so I suggest getting over early to see it in some remanence of anticipated glory. Oddly many sites have been using a photoshopped stock photo. I’ve borrowed an actual shot from here.
