COMPETITION – Win 2 tickets to see Everlast @ The Dome, London
“I’m an MC, when I sing, I’m MCing. It’s all hip-hop to me. I wouldn’t be in it and doing any of it if it weren’t for hip-hop. I feel like some sort of human mixer that just takes these musical styles and tries to spit them out over a beat somehow.” – Everlast
It seems like a very long time ago that rap was his forte, but it’s all storytelling and his soulful delivery over folk, blues guitar is better than ever. If you’ve never seen and heard Everlast perform an acoustic set LIVE, this is your chance. On his most recent album “The Life Acoustic” he gives us original music as well as a couple covers, including his own rendition of Slick Rick’s “Children’s Story” and the House Of Pain classic “Jump Around” like you’ve never heard before.
“When I would do these acoustic shows, there’s always one knucklehead that would yell ‘Jump Around,’ and I would laugh at it,” recalls Everlast. “But then I was in the studio just having fun, and said, ‘What would this sound like?’ Did it, and it was funny and was just kind of like, ‘Well, I guess that’s got to go on the record now.” from Rolling Stone
I’ve had the pleasure of seeing him three times now and honestly can’t emphasize enough just how moving each performance has been. From laughter to tears and the promise of an ass-kicking in between, you get it all from Everlast. I booked two tickets ages ago, but will be in LA next week now so can’t make the show. His touring schedule has been cut back so he can spend more time with family, so this is an opportunity you don’t want to miss.
To win the two tickets you just have to answer these very easy questions:
1. What record label were Everlast’s first two solo albums (post House Of Pain), Whitey Ford Sings The Blues and Eat At Whitey’s released on?
2. What movie did Everlast appear in alongside Emilio Estevez and Dennis Leary in 1993?
Both answers can be found on posts recently published on The Reference Council.
Email your answers to firstname.lastname@example.org with the subject EVERLAST and I will pick a winner at random on Saturday 8th August at 9 p.m. before I fly to the States. The tickets will be emailed in the form of a PDF.
